Your thermal printer is only as good as the paper you feed it. Bad thermal paper causes faded prints, jams, print head damage, and receipts that fade in weeks. Good paper costs almost the same but lasts years. Here is everything Indian restaurant owners need to know.
Thermal Paper Basics
Thermal paper has a heat-sensitive coating on one side. When the print head applies heat, the coating turns dark — that's how thermal printing works without ink. The shiny/smooth side is the coated side — it faces the print head. Loading paper backwards is the most common mistake: the print comes out blank. If this happens, flip your roll.
